Mommies are Superheroes

  • I have cut and stacked wood numerous times.
  • I have picked rocks in a field in the blazing sun until my hands were blistered and bloody.
  • I have ran 3+ miles in a snowstorm in shorts with numb feet and finished the race.
  • I have worked concrete construction (during some of the hottest days of the year).
  • I have worked in retail on Black Friday.
(In my opinion) These things are some of the most challenging, painful, and difficult things I have ever done. But none of these things compare to becoming a mother. Mommie's are Superheroes.

I never expected it to be this hard (not saying that I thought it would be easy). I have never been so tired, my back hurt so bad, or my eyes this bloodshot in my life. Just when I think I may have the hang of something, something else comes at me and hit me blindsided. Free-time is no longer existent and the terminology "MY body" no longer exists. My boobs are a story of their own, which I will spare you. --You're Welcome.-- Sleep is...wait, I don't even remember what that is. And the craziest thing about it all (besides me and my metal state) is that I have never been Happier in my life. What is wrong with me?!?!

I have learned to find my third hand (too bad we didn't really get one when we became a mom!), function on little-no sleep and actually get things accomplished, and multitask like its nobody's business. Mommie's are Superheroes.

Being the most stressed, cranky, and emotional I have ever been has somehow brought my marriage even closer and I have loved more that I thought I ever could in the past month. Before becoming a mommy, if someone came into my life and I had to change their butt, they got to spit up on me, I had to supply them food, and they got to decide my sleep schedule....get lost! But it all changes when you become a mommy. Mommies are Superheroes.

Being a stay-at-home-Mother has been the hardest job I've ever had. It is also the most rewarding.
To all those mommies out there stay-at-home or not, you are a hero...a SUPERhero. Don't forget it.
Keep fighting those dirty diapers, heal those skinned knees, and make those tears disappear.

And to all those daddy's. You have super-powers, too. Somehow, after the worst day of work (in or out of home) you can turn Mommies day around. You are the only person who can make bringing home a gallon of milk better than any flower bouquet. And you can give your child nothing better than to love their mother. You are a superhero.

Nobody said it would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it. -Harvey MacKay
